Spudcast! Soundbite from the New Spud Audiobook

Spud AudiobookOne of my earliest memories of childhood was driving on long and mostly torturous trips to far-flung areas of Southern Africa. My parents soon discovered that an effective way of preventing war between my now lovely sister and myself, was to pop an audiotape into the tape deck (remember them?)

I can recall listening to stories by Dick Francis, Agatha Christie and Roald Dahl – I also remember my father driving the family around our suburb extremely slowly and repeatedly. Despite driving all day we couldn’t let the holiday die until Hercule Poirot had taken his time evaluating the evidence and letting us know whom the murderer was.

Perhaps the audio book is as close to reverting back to traditional storytelling as our modern society will allow? Anyway, here’s a 26-minute track from from the Spud Audiobook, set up for podcasting and read by yours truly. I hope you enjoy.

I must confess to never having actually listened to an audio book, as I'll always be a lover of reading actual books. Perhaps I'm a old traditionalist at heart.

But a big Congratulations all the same!!! All the best for this new addition to the Spud series and congratulations on the US release. I loved both novels.

And thank you for the absolutely wonderful blurb that you wrote for my jacket cover. I was positively starstruck when I first found out.

    All the best,

    Sally / SA Partridge

The audiobook is very cool, especially because you are doing your own reading. I am impressed.

As the official teen book reviewer for Young Adult Books Central, I would like to let you know that I have reviewed Spud (totally loved it!) and you can read my review here:

I thought this was the best way to contact you, since I could not for the life of me find your email address anywhere. If you would like to contact me, I can be reached at I cannot wait to see the movie version, and get my hands on Spud - The Madness Continues. I do not think it is available in the U.S. yet, but please let me know how I can get a copy as soon as possible!

    Thank you & Happy Holidays!

How can we write to the author of Spud?
